Sharon TS #11
Date/Time: January 29th, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Location: Zoom
Topic/Skill: Present tense, verb conjugation, and present continuous tenseFeedback provided to tutee: The tutee and I went over a writing assignment I had given to him the week before. The tutee seems to still be struggling primarily with verb conjugation. They default to the infinitive in most sentences, or mix tenses and verbs (ie. "I am shower" instead of "I shower" or "I am showering"). Some of their sentences, as a result, are incomprehensible. The tutee was instructed to pay close attention to these mistakes, and given a grammar lesson.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: A lesson I seem to still be learning every tutoring session is how to ask questions in the correct way. This particular tutee's english is very limited, so questions often have to be asked in simpler terms a second or third time. I think I also need to work on speaking slower.
